Move over here comes youth! Beauty and brains were my first impression when I walked into the bridal shower. What promise to see such elegant and composed young women all present to support their girlfriend as she readied to make a major life transition.
She looked intelligent
At a certain point, I went into the kitchen. There stood a striking young woman with long brown hair and bright blue eyes. Kira Peikoff just looked intelligent and carried her feminine presence with ease. As it turns out, she is an author. She writes bio-medical thrillers in between getting her Master’s Degree in Bioethics at Columbia University. Imagine. She shared that her newest book, “No Time To Die” was being launched and ready for purchase. Her second book, no less, is a thriller based on true facts.
The Promise of youth
As we got ready to rejoin the festivities, I asked, “What is the essence of the book?” Without missing a beat and with a twinkle in her eye, she shared the hook “What if the fountain of youth was in our DNA?” Zap, it worked. “…And it’s based on a true story?” I asked marveling at the young woman who managed marriage, going for a Master’s Degree while writing novels on the side and flying West to support a long-time friend. “Yes”, she said, “That’s what I love to do. I love to combine what I study with writing.”
I love these younger women! ” Where are they going to take us?” As a woman from the generation that started the women’s movement, all I could think was, “Yes, this certainly is no time to die”.
